This is a keeper. I read it fast. Then again, slow. Then again, for nuance. Then again for meaning and transforming reflection to action. Thank you, Rachel.

Whoa! Using writing as a tool to transcend the ego, and transcending the ego as a tool to write?? 🤯

You've really opened me up to just how many more layers can be expressed through this medium.

This excerpt: "The writer learns quickly that each idea, notion, suspicion, and belief has a story, and that all of these stories have been co-written by her environment, society, community, family, body, history, and systems. The whole idea of ‘cause and effect’ that drives so much bad narrative is blown up—no single story could possibly be completely true! There is no one entirely complete perspective, interpretation, consequence, or cause" would have gotten a solid head nod from Thich Nhat Hanh himself.

TYTYTYTY! And, more please!

Wholeheartedly agree with Mark and Georgia. Love how you have connected the triad of being, observing and doing as a writer with this and your prior posts. And also your explicit callout that ego driven writing is bad writing. More of your perspective on how to slay / right-size the ego as a writer would be wonderful to read and reflect on. Thank you.
